From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
